An Icon of Saints Constantine and Helena Cures Sterility
Miracles one after another happen to the believers who pray before the icon of St Constantine and Helena and St Valentine’s relics in St Constantine and Helena Monastery near Varna. Miracles have started to happen so often in the past year, so that the woman that works in the monastery found herself forced to write them down in a special notebook.
The greatest miracle has happened to Irina and Todor’s family who haven’t got children for ten years. They both went to the monastery on 17 August last year and prayed before the icon of St Constantine and Helena for half an hour. Father Stoyan who is the Father Superior of the monastery said a prayer to God for a child.
- They both were very desperate because they had problems and doctors didn’t give them any hope of having a child. Besides the woman is 38. Irina came at Easter to tell us that she is pregnant and to thank. She told us the doctors were staggered how she had succeeded to conceive because the tests had shown she was sterile - said Stella, the woman from the monastery.
Several weeks after their visit to the monastery the Todorovs realized that they were going to have a baby. According to doctors’ calculation the conception happened a few days after their visit to the monastery. At the moment Irina is in hospital because she is a diabetic and needs doctors’ care. The family is expecting their first child up to two weeks.
- I wasn’t a believer. I liked discos and parties. My wife wasn’t a strong believer, too. Though after we married, we both started to change our mind.
We watched films and read books about Christ and Christianity. Thus we became believers and even started to go to church. We haven’t had any children for ten years. We saw many doctors and it turned out that my wife was sterile. Having known about that, I told her not to think of doctors. We prayed a lot and although I was sure that my wife would conceive, we started to discuss the question of adopting a child - Todor shared.
Thus they both went to the monastery. They confessed their sins and received a Holy Communion.
- I thank God. The meaning of life is to live righteously and humbly. The faith must lead us. Miracles happen to those who have eyes to see them and ears to listen about them - Todor thinks.
The Todorov's isn’t the only family that is expecting a child after a prayer before the miracle-working icon. A 40-year-old woman has obtained a child after 20 years of sterility. Again a prayer before the icon helped that woman.
- Miracles have become more and more frequent in the past year. There is no prayer that remains unheard by God. The only thing that is necessary is to believe. The Bible says even your faith is as big as a mustard seed, your prayer will be fulfilled. Strong believers Christians do not need miracles. Miracles often happened in the early years of Christianity when it was necessary to strengthen people’s faith. Now it is the same. People are depressed, they doubt, they are hesitant in their faith. That is why God gives us these miracles because people’s faith is weak- Stella thinks.
St Valentine's relics gather Separated Spouses
Not only the icon of St Constantine and Helena is miracle-working in the small monastery but also St Valentine’s relics. Since the relics were exhibited several separated spouses have gathered.
- We exhibited the relics a month ago. Little parts of St Valentine’s relics exist only in three places in the world: in our monastery, in Italy and in Russia. A woman separated from her husband for years, prayed before the relics to gather with him. Several days ago she told us that the miracle had happened and the family had gathered - Stella shared.
The holy water that springs in the monastery cures a variety of diseases. Eye diseases, skin allergies, psoriasis, verrucae, cataract, knee pains are real cases of cured people who have drunk from the holy water. All these cases are written in the notebook with miracles.
- Last summer a woman from Kardam (a Bulgarian town) came there. She had cataract and, even a date for operation had been appointed. The woman took from the holy water and drank from it for a month. Her sight got better but she went to the operation. When the doctor examined her, he was shocked and told her there was no need of operation - Stella continued with the miracles.
- The holy water is free of charge. It must be sipped once or twice on an empty stomach. The tender place as well can be smeared. The water cures because we give it to people for free, from the bottom of our heart - Stella thinks.
