Pilgrimage
With the blessing of Varna and Veliki Preslav Bishop, Dr Cyril, the Monastery of St Constantine and Helena has started to resume pilgrimage tourism. Up to 1944 the monastery brethren organized pilgrimage all the year round. Not a few people came for treatment to the mineral springs near the monastery, to feel the breeze, to breathe deeply fresh air, to enjoy the beautiful sunset...
Others took grapes baths; one of the main activities of monastery brethren was grapestherapy. They used the grapes from the monastery vineyards. Nowadays the grapes are known under the brand of Euxinograd wine products. And last but not the least, the pilgrims prayed before the miracle-working icon of St Equal to the Apostles Constantine and Helena. They confessed their sins and received Holy Communion, sang psalms and spiritual songs; their glorification of God spread out in the vicinity.
Today the monastery pilgrimage accommodation facilities do not exist. The spiritual resumption of the monastery has already begun. On Sundays and Feasts the Sacrament of all Sacraments, the Holy Liturgy, is administrated. Other Sacraments such as the Holy Baptism, Holy Wedding, Holy Confession, Holy Oil Consecration, are administrated, too. The monastery accommodation facilities are coming to be restored for receiving pilgrims. Today we cannot do that on our own. But if we join together in the name of Our Lord, we will be stronger and we will succeed as Our Lord says in the Gospel: Where two or three men gather in My Name, I am among them!
Our friends from the resort provide their accommodation facilities so that the pilgrims from afar can visit the monastery. The hotels are open all the year round and you can contact the employees who will make you a special offer after you have attested you are pilgrims.
